During a Senate Finance Committee hearing, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent was pressed by Senator Elizabeth Warren regarding the fiscal impact of the Big Beautiful Bill. Warren pointed out that multiple independent experts and organizations predict the bill would significantly increase the deficit rather than decrease it, challenging Bessent's more optimistic view. Despite the heated exchange, Bessent maintained his stance about potential long-term fiscal benefits of the bill, highlighting a divide even among those associated with the previous administration.

Every credible independent expert agrees that Trump and the Republicans' big, beautiful bill would add trillions of dollars to the national debt.
