We made progress on many very important issues, including Trade, Fentanyl, the need to bring the War between Russia and Ukraine to an end, and the approval of the TikTok Deal," Trump wrote. "Earlier this week, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the "framework" for a TikTok deal had been reached with China. Then, Trump extended the deadline for a TikTok deal for another 90 days, until December 16, with an Executive Order. It is the fourth extension issued since Congress passed a law last year requiring TikTok's parent company, Beijing-based ByteDance, to sell the popular app or face a ban in the U.S."
Trump posted that he completed a "very productive" call with Chinese leader Xi Jinping and that progress was made on approving a TikTok deal. A White House official said the call began at 8 a.m. ET. The leaders agreed to speak again by phone and to meet at the APEC Summit in November. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said a framework for a TikTok deal had been reached with China. Trump extended the TikTok deal deadline by 90 days to December 16, the fourth extension under a law requiring ByteDance to sell or face a U.S. ban. Reports indicate U.S. owners will include new and existing investors, with Oracle remaining as cloud provider and Silver Lake involved while ByteDance retains a stake.
