Trump announced continued negotiations on social media and said he looked forward to speaking with Modi in the coming weeks. Modi confirmed the planned conversation and described the two countries as close friends and natural partners. Indian trade negotiators are planning to travel to Washington, possibly next week, to restart talks. India seeks U.S. action on a 25% reciprocal tariff and an additional 25% levy tied to Russian oil purchases. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal confirmed active dialogue toward a trade deal.
