The HRMTZ House, located on a ravine along the coast of Matanzas, skillfully addresses the challenges posed by its deep slope and breathtaking views. The architects designed two interlinked volumes that capture sightlines from various rooms, with one elevated on stilts to optimize sea views, while the other nestles into the slope to lessen environmental impact. Made primarily from treated local pine wood, the house features a ventilated facade to manage temperature fluctuations, and the layout considers strong local winds, ensuring outdoor spaces like the barbecue area remain comfortable and usable for the family.
The HRMTZ House in Matanzas optimally utilizes sloping terrain and stunning views through a two-volume design; one elevated and the other set into the slope.
Constructed entirely of treated pine wood, the design captures essential views and minimizes landscape impact, while ensuring stability on the challenging hillside.
Considering local strong winds, the design carefully places the barbecue area and terrace to provide protection while maintaining usability for the family.
The unique architectural features, including the use of a bridge and elevated volume, exemplify innovative responses to environmental conditions and site characteristics.
