"The German Insurance Association (GdV) has documented billions of euros in annual damages from insurance fraud, a figure the association says is rising as generative AI makes it trivially easy to alter damage photographs and manipulate video calls."
"What distinguishes Neuramancer's approach, the company argues, is forensic depth rather than pattern matching. Its detection system analyses statistical irregularities in image and video noise, focusing on structural artefacts rather than semantic content."
"While many providers rely on intransparent black-box models, we pursue a scientifically grounded, fully transparent approach. European, explainable AI will become a strategic competitive advantage for companies that need to protect themselves against synthetic manipulation."
Neuramancer AI Solutions, a Bavarian startup formerly known as Neuraforge, secured €1.7 million in pre-seed funding to advance its deepfake detection technology. The company addresses rising insurance fraud enabled by generative AI, which the German Insurance Association reports costs billions annually. Neuramancer's platform distinguishes itself through forensic analysis of statistical irregularities in image and video noise rather than pattern matching. This approach detects manipulations missed by conventional detectors and generates transparent forensic reports showing where and how media was altered. The funding round was led by Vanagon Ventures with participation from Bayern Kapital, ZOHO.VC, and Lightfield Equity, alongside business angels from financial services and technology sectors.
