Sony announced this shutdown by quietly updating a 2023 blog post celebrating the game's launch rather than through conventional announcement channels. The game has already been removed from the PlayStation Store, and its developer, First Contact Entertainment, was dissolved in late 2023. Despite being a sequel to the original Firewall, which was successful on the original PSVR, Firewall Ultra underperformed with both critics and players. The original Firewall remains operational, while this sequel will become completely unplayable once the servers shut down.
