"I just want to win games,"
"I don't want to get scored on."
"I want to do my job and help get as many wins for the Washington Capitals as I can,"
"There's lots to build off. I don't think I'll go 22-2 at Christmas. I think that's going to be pretty hard to duplicate,"
Logan Thompson returns to the Washington Capitals as the number-one netminder for 2025-26 with a clear focus on winning games and minimizing goals against. He posted a 31-6-6 record with a 2.49 GAA and .910 save percentage in 2024-25, finishing fourth in Vezina Trophy voting and recording the most wins for a Capitals goalie since 2018-19. Thompson acknowledges positives to build on while tempering expectations about repeating an early-season run. He needs 13 more wins for 100 career victories and brought his childhood coach, Justin Cardinal, from Calgary to camp.
