'No Kings' protests slated for Saturday: What to know about rallies against Trump's policies
Briefly

On Trump's 79th birthday, hundreds of cities will host "No Kings" protests against his administration, coinciding with the Army's 250th anniversary military parade. Organizers argue that Trump's plans to showcase military strength reflect an authoritarian approach. The Bay Area will feature over 50 protests, aiming to challenge his governance as reminiscent of a dictatorship. Indivisible East Bay organizer Nancy Latham emphasized the non-violent nature of the protests, underscoring the importance of community engagement in opposing Trump's policies while promoting peace and safety for attendees.
The protests are aimed at objecting to the actions of the Trump administration and showing that "the power doesn't lie with a would-be dictator," said Indivisible East Bay organizer Nancy Latham.
"We are going to rise up and say, 'No kings in America,'" Latham said. "He basically wants to arrogate all of the power to himself and his family as a king would, and he is not governing at all for the people. This is frankly a fascist regime."
