Just hours prior to the America 250 military parade, thousands gathered across the Washington, DC area for the 'No Kings Day of Defiance' protests. Demonstrators in regions like Arlington and Falls Church wielded signs denouncing Trump and fascism while chanting anti-Trump slogans. In Arlington, around 5,000 participants lined Langston Boulevard. Despite some attending protests in senior facilities, the spirit of outrage was pervasive. The events highlighted a significant pushback against perceived authoritarianism, showcasing the energy and unity among those opposed to Trump's administration.
In Arlington-the 'No Kings' protest closest to the parade route in downtown DC-an estimated 5,000 people lined Langston Boulevard from Rosslyn to Falls Church, some 5.2 miles.
I was blown away by the size and energy of the crowd,' said one man who attended the Arlington protest. 'For me it was about defending democracy.'
They waved signs that proclaimed 'DEMOCRACY NOT DICTATORS,' 'VACCINES CAUSE ADULTS,' and 'ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT FASCIST LIARS,' while chanting slogans like 'Hey, ho, Donald Trump has got to go.'
