The circuit for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix looks like a real-life video game
"The circuit is unlike any other street race we've seen. Racing through the heart of American history, with those amazing landmarks lining the course, is going to be incredibly powerful."
"The 1.7-mile circuit opens with a front stretch along Pennsylvania Avenue by the U.S. Capitol and heads northwest past the National Gallery of Art and Canada's U.S. Embassy where cars can get the most speed. The circuit then takes a sharp left turn after the National Archives and cuts south through the National Mall at 7th Street."
The Freedom 250 Grand Prix represents the first-ever street race on the National Mall, with a route specifically designed to pass numerous tourist attractions and iconic landmarks. The 1.7-mile circuit begins along Pennsylvania Avenue near the U.S. Capitol, proceeds northwest past the National Gallery of Art and Canada's Embassy, then cuts through the National Mall at 7th Street with views of the Capitol and Washington Monument. The course continues past the Hirshhorn Museum and Air and Space Museum before returning toward the Capitol via Independence Avenue. IndyCar Series cars will reach speeds exceeding 200 mph on this historic route. The event is organized by NNT IndyCar Series in partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment and will air nationally on Fox.
