Washington Post publisher resigns after job cut uproar
"During my tenure, difficult decisions have been taken in order to ensure the sustainable future of The Post so it can for many years ahead publish high-quality nonpartisan news to millions of customers each day,"
"the right time for me to step aside."
"We are ending a hard week of change with more change."
Will Lewis departed as publisher and CEO of The Washington Post effective immediately. He said difficult decisions were taken during his tenure to ensure the paper's sustainable future and its ability to publish high-quality nonpartisan news to millions daily. Lewis described stepping aside as the right decision. Jeff D'Onofrio, who joined the Post last year as chief financial officer, was named as Lewis's replacement. The newspaper announced massive job cuts earlier in the week. D'Onofrio noted the organization is ending a hard week of change and will face more change ahead.
