Desperate Housewives spin-off Wisteria Lane in development

A new reboot of ABC's Desperate Housewives is in the works, named Wisteria Lane, produced by Kerry Washington's Simpson Street. The spin-off, written by Natalie Chaidez, promises a fun yet dark soap/mystery centering on a group of frenemies in an idyllic cul-de-sac. The series revisits the theme of hidden secrets behind seemingly perfect lives, similar to the original series that garnered immense popularity and critical acclaim. The show's creator Marc Cherry may collaborate on this project despite being initially uninvolved. This development coincides with the original show's 20th anniversary, reigniting interest in its legacy.
The new iteration of Desperate Housewives, titled Wisteria Lane, is being developed by Onyx Collective and will be a dark soap/mystery about frenemies in a seemingly perfect neighborhood.
Kerry Washington will executive-produce Wisteria Lane alongside Pilar Savone and Natalie Chaidez, the latter also writing the new spin-off series.
The original Desperate Housewives became a huge hit upon its debut in 2004, running for eight seasons and earning 38 Emmy nominations, winning one.
While it is uncertain if Kerry Washington will star in the new series, she will produce it under her Simpson Street banner with hopes to collaborate with Marc Cherry.
