Anita Menon, an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer and founder of the Anjali School of Dance, dedicated her life to nurturing the art and culture of Bharatanatyam in the U.S. After immigrating from India, she left a profound impact in Portland through her classes and productions. Even a challenging battle with Stage 4 cancer couldn't diminish her spirit. Anita passed away in June 2025 surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire her students and the broader artistic community she enriched.
Anita Menon's creative curiosity and artistic explorations embodied humanity, offering inspiration as she shared Bharatanatyam through the Anjali School of Dance and connected with diverse audiences.
With her incredible warmth, Anita Menon not only led her students in Bharatanatyam but also nurtured a community through art, making a lasting impact on many lives.
