Justice Christopher Beale imposed the sentence during a live broadcast in the Victorian Supreme Court. Patterson served beef wellingtons laced with death cap mushrooms to her estranged husband’s parents and his aunt and uncle in July 2023. Victim impact statements included Heather Wilkinson’s forgiveness and Simon Patterson’s concern that their two children lost a relationship with their mother. Victoria Police searched Patterson’s home and investigated following hospital admissions and subsequent deaths.
