The aircraft crashed in a mountainous region near the Venezuelan border, and a rescue team located the wreckage and confirmed there were no survivors. Officials could not immediately determine the cause and announced an investigation. Among those killed was 36-year-old Diogenes Quintero, a member of the House of Representatives for Catatumbo and a known human rights activist in the border region.
