Activists supplied the Irish Independent with a photograph showing the charred device they say dropped onto the Alma's deck."
"The remains of the burnt-out incendiary device used in last night's attack have been recovered from the deck of 'the Alma', and there is footage of the attack as it occurred. An investigation is currently underway, and when more information is available, it will be released immediately."
"We are issuing an urgent call on the Irish Government to make a statement calling for the safe passage of the flotilla and its participants to Gaza, ensuring a humanitarian corridor is opened. The Irish government has a duty to uphold international law and protect Irish citizens."
For the second consecutive night devices struck vessels in the Global Sumud Flotilla, igniting fires while passengers were onboard. The Alma, carrying Irish activists including Tadhg Hickey, Tara Sheehy and Fra Hughes, was set ablaze after a device was dropped on its top deck from a suspected drone. The Family, carrying Greta Thunberg and other activists, was attacked the previous night at the Sidu Bou Said port in Tunisia. Activists recovered a charred incendiary device and provided footage of the incidents. Organizers called for an urgent Irish Government statement demanding safe passage, a humanitarian corridor to Gaza, and protection for Irish citizens. An investigation is underway.
