Progress has been made toward resuming IAEA inspections of Iran's nuclear sites, with hopes for a successful conclusion within days and warnings that time is short. Tehran allowed inspectors into Iran at the end of August but has not agreed to full cooperation. After June bombings by Israel and the United States that struck Iranian nuclear facilities, Iran changed its cooperation and passed a July law requiring Supreme National Security Council approval for future inspections. Iran reacted angrily to an IAEA finding of NPT breaches and to the watchdog's failure to condemn Israeli and US attacks. The IAEA lacks recent information on Iran's highly enriched uranium stock.
