Israeli forces have intercepted and detained crews of at least 22 boats from the Global Sumud Flotilla near Crete, which aimed to break Israel's maritime blockade of Gaza. The flotilla, consisting of about 58 vessels from 70 countries, departed from Italy. Organizers condemned Israel's actions as a dangerous escalation and an abduction of civilians. The Israeli foreign ministry reported control over more than 20 boats with 175 activists. The flotilla described the interception as a violent raid, claiming military actions left civilians stranded in dangerous conditions.
