It's an absolute red line, a Premiere Urgence Internationale spokesperson told Al Jazeera. Sending lists about employees to Israel would potentially endanger the lives of our staff."
Eight charities have refused to hand Israel details about their Palestinian staff, saying disclosure would endanger employees. Ten international NGOs now decline to comply with Israeli demands for staff lists after registration requirements were imposed. Israel withdrew licences from 37 aid organisations for not sharing employee, funding and operations data. The information sought includes copies of passports, CVs and names of family members, including children. Since October 2023, more than 550 aid workers have been killed, including 15 MSF staff. NGOs say humanitarian access is obligatory under international law and that sharing lists would risk lives.
