The US president issued two demands to Iran to avoid military action: halt nuclear activities and stop killing protesters. The president warned that powerful US ships are sailing to Iran and said their use would be undesirable but possible. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that armed forces were ready "with their fingers on the trigger" to "immediately and powerfully respond" to any aggression. Araghchi said Iran would enter talks only if based on mutual interest, mutual respect and mutual trust, while excluding missile defence systems from negotiations and asserting the nuclear programme is peaceful. Turkey expressed readiness to support peaceful solutions and the UK emphasised preventing nuclear development and condemning repression.
