Blackburn reads from her debut novel Dead in Long Beach, which examines the mania of grief through an end-of-the-world lesbian assassin. Her earlier work won the Prairie Schooner book prize for fiction and resulted in the 2017 collection Black Jesus and Other Superheroes. In 2021, she published the collection How to Wrestle a Girl, which received a New York Times Editor's Choice. The reading is scheduled for Thu, Feb 19, 6:30pm at Hammer Theatre Center in San Jose; admission is free.
