"One of the simplest ways to decorate your home for this upcoming time of year is to tie ribbon around just about anything! Reminds me of the old Portlandia series phrase "put a bird on it" (anyone else remember that episode?) - just substitute "ribbon." Today I thought I would show some of my Christmas decorating ideas from previous years that I've used in our home with ribbon (and I'll add the ribbon and other sources, too)."

Ribbons can be tied around garlands, stairways, chandeliers, sconces, lamps, wreaths, chairs, windows, doors, trees, scarves, and bedding to create quick festive accents. Velvet, suede, gingham, striped, and buffalo check ribbons add texture and color. Pair ribbons with ornaments, faux greenery, red berries, dehydrated orange wheels, flameless candles, votives, and mini boxwood wreaths for layered holiday styling. Use neutral khaki velvets or light blue velvet for understated looks, or black-and-white stripes, gingham, and red for classic or rustic themes. Small details like bows on chair backs, lamp shades, and wrapped chandeliers elevate everyday objects into holiday decor.
