"The client was drawn to pretty Georgian architecture but was advised that a typical listed Islington townhouse would present significant constraints when attempting to achieve their desired open-plan layout."
"This non-listed property, with the external façade of a Georgian townhouse, therefore offered the perfect solution."
A collaboration between Hamish Vincent Design and Architecture for London resulted in a Neo Georgian home in Islington. Located in the Canonbury Conservation Area, this house is part of a terrace of nine post-war rebuilt houses. The client sought a home that reflected Georgian architecture but needed an open-plan layout. A non-listed property with a Georgian facade was identified as the ideal solution, allowing for the desired design without the limitations of a typical listed townhouse.
