London's Pocket Parks: Hercules Road, SE1
Briefly

A long linear park, known as a pocket park, has been created alongside a Lambeth road near Waterloo station. This park features Sustainable Drainage Systems and green spaces, resulting in a narrower road but a more pleasant pavement. Five pockets of park were established, promoting rainwater absorption and reducing heat island effects. Twelve new trees have been added, enhancing local air quality. The project was funded by Lambeth Council and supported by the Mayor of London's environmental funds. A consultation indicated 80% community support for the initiative.
