'My home flooded and got covered in poo - I don't want to return'
Briefly

Amoin Brou, a resident of a Winifred Street flat since 2006, reported increasing moisture, culminating in severe sewage overflow events in May 2023. Despite notifying the local council, she experienced little assistance until the situation worsened, prompting her to call the fire brigade. After significant flooding, including human waste, her living conditions became uninhabitable. Newham Council provided temporary housing, yet Amoin refuses to return home due to the extensive damage and contamination of her belongings, illustrating a broader issue of inadequate housing response and tenant safety.
Newham Council put Amoin and her daughter up in Manor Park Hotel temporarily whilst the flat was being drained. She remains in this hotel and refuses to return home despite being told she can.
We woke up to find the flat was full of water and human faeces. You could smell it from outside the building.
