Tea room project in Dublin park cost council almost 683,000
Briefly

Dublin City Council reported cost overruns in the Palmerston Park conversion project, increasing the total cost from an original €556,000 to include additional expenses due to structural issues discovered during construction. Key changes in design and landscaping added to costs, but the project features improved facilities and achieved a higher energy efficiency rating. The council highlighted that the structural adjustments, while costly, have enhanced the building's environmental sustainability, leading to reduced fuel costs and lower CO2 emissions post-completion.
The council said that the conversion of the depot at the historic park included a dining area, a serving area, storerooms, toilets, and other facilities.
The upside to this was that the building achieved an impressive A3 BER rating from B1 BER rating preconstruction, which means lower fuel costs and significantly less CO2 emissions.
