The block located on Eastern Parkway between Franklin and Bedford Avenues in Crown Heights has been recognized as the 2025 Greenest Block in Brooklyn by the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. This block, maintained by the Crown Heights Keepers block association, is the first residential winner primarily consisting of apartment buildings. Winners receive cash prizes, certificates, and participation recognition. The contest has promoted streetscape gardening and neighborly connections for nearly 30 years, enhancing community engagement and environmental initiatives in Brooklyn.
"For nearly 30 years, the Greenest Block in Brooklyn has united our neighbors and inspired generations of plant lovers across our borough. It has been an honor to witness so much hard work bloom into living masterpieces."
"To all our participants, your passion and expertise ignite civic pride and show us all how gardening can bring people together to make Brooklyn greener—one block at a time!"
