Recently, the popular dine-in theater chain Alamo Drafthouse announced that it would be "retiring the pen and paper order card model and call buttons" in February 2026, and "shifting to only taking orders via QR code." For fans of Alamo, the news didn't quite feel like what CEO Michael Kustermann declared "a custom, smart, and flexible way to strengthen [the business]." It felt like a nail in the coffin of another analog dream.

Jill Valentine may not be in Requiem, but the original RE heroine is finally getting Jill's Sandwich, which is a play on the infamous line in the first game. For the record, a Jill's Sandwich is comprised of double all-beef patties, applewood smoked bacon, melty cheese, pickles, a special burger sauce, and a butter-toasted bun. You can wash that down with a T-Virus Cocktail or a Blue Umbrella Serum, although the Drafthouse employees will probably give you a soda if you ask for it.

Last week I went to the movies to see The Testament of Ann Lee. The movie itself was fantastic; my experience seeing it was less so. This was largely due to something that took place about 10 minutes into the film, when a family wandered into the theater, spent what seemed like an eternity using their phones' flashlight app to find their seats in a not-very-crowded matinee showing and then walked out of the theater 10 minutes later.
