Visiting one of the smallest islands in the Bahamas is about to get easier. American Airlines will launch new flights to the island of Bimini next year, connecting the charming destination just 50 miles off the eastern coast of Florida with Miami, according to the carrier. The new flights will take off on Feb. 14, 2026, and operate three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays on an Embraer 175 aircraft.
As Ben Schlappig of One Mile at a Time reports, American is adding service between Miami and South Bimini, a city in the Bahamas. Service is set to begin on February 16, 2026, with flights traveling between the two cities three times per week. The plane will travel just 64 miles, and the airline has estimated exactly one hour between take-off and landing. Schlappig also notes that this will become American's shortest route.
American Airlines is launching seasonal flights to top ski destinations this winter, including Sun Valley and Santa Fe, providing winter getaway options to travelers.
