The poems carved into the walls of the detention center on Angel Island seemed like the perfect vehicle to explore the Chinese immigrant experience.

"The exhibit provides a kind of border surveillance 101 for others who might not be aware of the privacy-impeding technology already creating a barrier between the U.S. and its southern neighbor."
