Art Gallery of Ontario curator resigned after failed acquisition of Nan Goldin work

Although the AGO had planned to jointly purchase Goldin's moving-image work Stendhal Syndrome (2024) with the Vancouver Art Gallery (VAG) and Minneapolis's Walker Art Center, it pulled out in mid 2025 after its modern and contemporary curatorial working committee voted 11-to-9 against it. The move was unexpected, especially as the AGO already had three Goldin works in its collection. (The VAG and Walker Art Center proceeded with the joint acquisition.)

Toronto remembers architect Frank Gehry as artist who left behind 'unique' spaces | CBC News

Gehry created a building that has moments where it is "quite conservative and elegant" but also moments where it is "quite flamboyant and over the top," he said. "Frank Gehry, while he's recognized as being an architect, really thought like an artist. He always looked at possibilities, always pushed the limits of materiality," Jost said. Gehry was a lot of fun, a "really great guy," and he "always approached every project as if it was his first project."

Art Gallery of Ontario scores major donation, more than 450 pieces | CBC News

It's a good day when somebody gives you 13 Andy Warhols. And what's nice is many of them are super-iconic like the Marilyn Monroes. Those are something you see all the time, the kind of poppy art ones where Marilyn Monroe looks kind of like a drag queen. When you get a series of those, it's iconic people walk in and they say: `I've seen that before!' And that's kind of cool.
