X introduces automatic translation and a new photo editor powered by Grok models to enhance user experience.
Setting aside Mozilla's branding exercises for one moment, we thought we'd start with the modest new features in the release notes. The top feature here is the ability to add and read comments in PDF files. In a previous life, the Reg FOSS desk was a technical writer, and this feature will be very welcome for people collaboratively writing and editing.
Tab groups was a new feature that appeared on April Fool's Day with Firefox 137. Mozilla has been improving the new feature with every release since - arguably including the contentious LLM-assisted automatic group naming that appeared in Firefox 141. Now the current tab remains visible even when you collapse a group, and a group stays collapsed even if you drag-and-drop a new tab onto the group.
WhatsApp has announced a new feature called Message Translations, which, as evident from its name, allows users to translate text messages in chats. The Message Translations feature works with 1:1 conversations, group chats, and Channels. When you see a message in a different language, you can long-press that message, tap "Translate," then choose the language you want that message to be translated from or to.
