Tyus Jones signed with the Denver Nuggets as a veteran point guard to address backcourt depth behind Jamal Murray.
Guard is the Warriors' biggest strength and arguably their largest question mark. Depth abounds in the backcourt. Megastar Steph Curry is aging as gracefully as a bottle of his Gentleman's Cut bourbon and is still one of the game's elite players. But the shooting guard spot is unsettled. While the team potentially has five different players who could realistically start games at the spot this season, each comes with their own strengths and weaknesses.
Free agent guard Malcolm Brogdon has agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Knicks, agent Sam Permut of Roc Nation told ESPN on Friday morning. Entering his 10th NBA season, Brogdon, a former Sixth Man of the Year, gives the Knicks key backcourt depth and reserve playmaking. Brogdon is expected to have a rotation role for new coach Mike Brown this season, and joins Landry Shamet as signings on one-year deals to help round out the Knicks' roster.
The Knicks have been linked with veteran guard Ben Simmons to bolster the depth of their backcourt, but they have yet to offer him a contract. SNY's Ian Begley was the first to relay that New York has not submitted a formal offer shortly after Marc Stein reported that Simmons rejected a deal sent over by Leon Rose and Co.
