VTA officials unanimously decided to part ways with Kiewit Shea Traylor due to an inability to agree on pricing for the second phase of the BART project. They believe this decision will not affect the project schedule, despite the challenges ahead such as a $700 million to $1.2 billion funding gap. The project aims to enhance public transit in the region by extending the BART line.
The VTA Board of Directors signed off on the contract with Kiewit Shea Traylor (KST) in May 2022. However, price negotiations for the second phase have not progressed.
