VTA ditches quest to grab San Jose site as train station design shifts
The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority has abandoned its plan to seize a downtown San Jose property through eminent domain after the proposed BART station design shifted.
This marks the second time the VTA has given up a purchase effort on East Santa Clara Street.
The VTA stated that it did not need the property for the construction of the Downtown San Jose BART Station. [ more ]

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority has abandoned its plans to seize a prime site near a future BART station in downtown San Jose through eminent domain, potentially derailing a housing highrise project.
The VTA stated that it no longer needed the property to build a component of the train station, removing the need to acquire it.
