Wired earbuds remain popular due to their affordability and simplicity, despite advancements in wireless headphone technology.
Roku, the streaming device manufacturer, announced earlier this month a list of updates for existing Roku users, along with a new affordable projector. The updates included enhancements to the Roku City screensaver, Roku Voice, Live TV Channels, the Roku mobile app, and headphone mode. New interactive buttons are being introduced to trailers on the Roku platform, including a "Ways to Watch" button and a "Save" button. You can go straight to the movie from the trailer without having to back out from the trailer menu.
Apple has introduced a simple solution to the problem in iOS 26, as spotted by MacRumors, that should also work with any other pair of wireless headphones connected to your iPhone. Open your iPhone's Settings app and navigate to the General > AirPlay & Continuity section. In there you'll find a 'Keep Audio with Headphones' option you can turn on that keeps the audio playing through your wireless headphones even after your iPhone connects to devices like Bluetooth speakers or CarPlay-compatible stereos.
Are wired headphones better than wireless Bluetooth headphones? In terms of sound, the answer can often be yes. Although, I won't pretend Bluetooth headphones aren't good enough for the majority of the population's ears. They are. Still, wired headphones are often easier to use (caveat below) and tend to not have as much fancy (read: expensive) tech that drives up the price. Plus you can use them after months of neglect without needing to charge. What a blessing.
