France has banned 10 British anti-migrant activists for attempting to stop migrants and asylum seekers from crossing into the United Kingdom on small boats, the French Ministry of Interior has announced. In a statement on Wednesday, the ministry said it had been alerted to the actions of activists with the so-called Raise the Colours group, searching for and destroying small boats and engaging in propaganda activity on the northern French coast.

The UK first introduced its Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) in 2023, gradually rolling it out so that by April 2025 it was compulsory for anyone entering the UK - with the exception of those travelling on a UK or Irish passport. But although the scheme has been in place for almost nine months now, people who have not had the required authorisation have mostly not actually been prevented from entering the country.
