A man accused of causing the explosion of an ultra-low emission zone (Ulez) camera in south-east London has told a court he does not recall where he was or what he was doing at the time of the incident. A video has also been released by the Met Police showing the moment the camera exploded in CCTV footage. Retired electrical appliances engineer Kevin Rees is on trial at Woolwich Crown Court accused of damaging the camera in Willersley Avenue, Sidcup.

A jury has viewed CCTV footage of the moment a father of four fatally stabbed a man outside his home in what he later told gardaí was an act in defence of his family and his property.

Police have arrested a driver who allegedly removed his licence plate and hid it in the trunk of the vehicle before he fled a fatal hit and run in Mississauga. Santosh Kumar Patra, 56, of Mississauga was killed in the collision on Friday around 9 p.m., police said in the release Wednesday. According to police, a Mini Cooper struck and killed Patra at the intersection of Eglinton Avenue W. and Fallingbrook Drive.

Two thieves who tried to steal a bicycle locked up opposite a police station in broad daylight have pleaded guilty to theft. John Kent, 43, of no fixed address, admitted attempted theft of a pedal cycle and handling stolen goods. John Hutchenson, 44, of Canton Street, E14, pleaded guilty to attempted theft of a pedal cycle, going equipped to steal, and theft from a shop.

Ms Hewer, 52, a devout Christian, was sexually assaulted and stabbed six times at her flat in Parkstone Road, Walthamstow, on October 17, 1995.
