Sochan has fallen to the fringes of head coach Mitch Johnson's rotation - he's essentially only a mop-up minutes guy or an injury sub. The 6-foot-8 Baylor product has seen his minutes slashed from 25.3 to 13.1 this season,
Then again, when facing a loaded 2026 NBA Draft, that's not such a bad thing. Assuming the Portland Trail Blazers make the playoffs, the Bulls would add their first-round pick, too. Per Tankathon, the 23-23 Bulls are currently projected at the end of the lottery with the No. 14 pick. Of course, the fun of a draft lottery is that anyone can move up with a little luck.
Earlier this month, Chicago Bulls team president Arturas Karnisovas was apparently poised to make his squad the Eastern Conference's "biggest sellers" at this season's Feb. 5 trade deadline. This is the kind of overreaction that one can expect out of the least competent current front office leader this side of maybe Kings GM Scott Perry, who apparently has been inspired by Chicago's recent four-game win streak to jettison assets and equity in pursuit of young "win-now" components.
Prior to the Bulls' matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers Monday night, Benny teased a possible number change multiple times on social media in honor of Rose. He held a mock news conference where he was asked to address it. Benny made no comment, instead showing off a sign that read: "I've got 99 problems but my number ain't 1." Benny even organized a focus group to choose a number as he then hung up the No. 1 jersey in a closet prior to tipoff.
The 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend is heading to the sunny beach town of Los Angeles this year. And despite how well Josh Giddey played this season, it looked like the Bulls wouldn't have any representation. Or so we thought, until the NBA announced Matas Buzelis as a participant in the Rising Stars Game, which takes place on All-Star Friday. This will be Matas Buzelis' second appearance in the Rising Stars Game as a Chicago Bull after playing on Team Mitch last season.
The Bulls enter 2025-26 coming off their fourth-straight play-in appearance and second-straight 39-win season. Their biggest move of the offseason was flipping Lonzo Ball for Isaac Okoro, which was more poor asset management on the Bulls' part after what was reportedly available at the deadline. Ball does have notable health concerns. But they sold low on an expiring contract to take on more guaranteed money not only in 2025-26, but the following season as well.
Like the vintage Reese's commercial in which someone accidentally gets peanut butter in his chocolate while another person gets chocolate in his peanut butter, this is a melding of two franchises that was bound to happen.
