One of the groups taking part is the Fermoy International Choir which was founded to promote respect and solidarity through music and to help those new to Ireland to make friends and settle in their new community.
Our concern is that the current narrative, which presents only one side of the debate, will only drive public anxiety and entrench polarisation. When you refer to the incalculable damage done by uncontrolled migration, you are in danger of harming migrant members of our communities and strengthening those who would divide us.
Teresa Margolles stated, "We pay this tribute to [Karla La Borrada] and all the other people who were killed for reasons of hate. But, above all, to those who live on, to the new generations who will defend the power to freely choose to live with dignity." This illustrates the artwork's purpose as a memorial and call for respect and understanding towards the trans community.
