The NBA Shooting Stars competition returns to All-Star weekend after an 11-year hiatus, the league announced on Saturday with four teams set to compete in the Feb. 14 event. The Shooting Stars competition will feature a two-round format in which all teams participate in the first round with the top two advancing to the final rounds. Teams will be given 70 seconds to score points by hitting shots at seven locations on the court with each team member shooting in a set order at each spot.
A crazy night of Champions League action on Wednesday concluded the league phase for another season. All six Premier League sides have progressed, with only Newcastle having to play in next month's play-off round. Holders Paris St Germain and Real Madrid both failed to seal automatic spots. PSG could only draw 1-1 at home to Newcastle United, a result that left both sides facing a playoff despite starting the final night in the automatic places.
Sometimes a tournament's greatest strength can be its greatest weakness. In part because of the excellent playing conditions, this has been an Africa Cup of Nations devoid of shocks. The better teams keep winning. There has been a lot of good football, but not a huge amount of memorable football. And the consequence is that, in the final, we have the two best teams, or certainly the best team in north Africa against the best team in sub-Saharan Africa:
