In one exchange in late 2021, a pornographic actor who was a regular participant in what the couple referred to as debauchery or hotel nights texted Jane to marvel that a recent encounter had been the roughest sex we ever had.

Giving evidence, the defendant said he "used a false ID to obtain work, to get a job" and that it was "to make a living... to save for my partner - I'm the one who paid for the rent".

The prosecution claimed that after a Slowthai concert in 2021, the two women were isolated from their friends at one of their homes, where the alleged attacks occurred. They provided even VIP tickets before the concert, which seemed to set the stage for the encounter. It was suggested that in the private space, the atmosphere became distorted and led to events that no one anticipated, changing a fun night into a nightmare.
