I wanted something that felt a little more freaky within the town while still honoring its history. Her vision was a retreat that encouraged guests to embrace their weirdness and put it on display. Dev imagined an aesthetic loosely inspired by an old circus, hearkening to a place where everyone is accepted and eccentricity is the norm.
When she moved to New York City six years ago, she quickly realized it's "a very crazy place." So she would fly off to Bali twice a year to find some solace and to design collections for her celebrity-beloved fashion brand Bronx and Banco. In her search for a creative retreat a bit closer to home, she soon landed on the east end of Long Island.
There are few places on Earth that feel more creatively supportive than the Ouray Film Festival, a gorgeous mountain setting where creators come together to support each other's visions. The team behind the annual June event are launching their own filmmaker lab: The Ouray Filmmaker Sabbatical. It's designed to give creators space from the hustle and bustle of the industry in places like New York and Los Angeles, a safety net that's "designed to give filmmakers pace to recharge and rethink."
