I've always worked, even after having children, but like many women, I squeezed myself around my husband, Neil, who was the breadwinner, working in the insurance industry in London. Between having our two daughters, who are now 22 and 18, I became a stay-at-home mom. I looked after the children and the house, and managed to shoehorn my own part-time career as a counsellor and therapist around that.

People think that marriage changes nothing, but it changes everything. Decisions made now have a lasting impact on the family for years to come, and what could have been decisions that were easily reversible before marriage are much more difficult after marriage. Staying employed becomes much more important, future planning becomes more about how we can afford to get pregnant soon than how we can afford to take a vacation or have a nice dinner, and lots of compromises must be made for the greater good.

The installation consists of four parallel metal cables stretched across the rooftop, anchored with counterweights. Suspended from these lines are twelve linen canvases measuring 2.5 × 1.5 meters each. The system establishes a balance between the rigidity of the steel structure and the lightness of the semi-transparent . As the canvases respond to wind and movement, the installation becomes dynamic, creating shifting spatial thresholds for visitors to move through.

The lack of me-time means moms are also deprived of the benefits of solitude, which are essential for mental health.
