We are heartbroken to share that Misua, a talented Queen set to appear on season four of Drag Race Philippines passed away in her sleep the morning of April 2. She brought light, artistry, and joy to those around her, and she will be deeply missed.
In musical theater, a 'charm song' is a number in the middle of the show that serves no plot purpose but to make people endear themselves to the characters and the show. On Broadway right now, go check out Ragtime for a great example, in the baseball number 'What a Game,' which doesn't advance any story but is cute, fun, and drives home a larger point in the show.
It was a perfect representation of Drag Race at its best: clearly developed storytelling, production decisions that forced girls to navigate new twists without seeming out-of-bounds, and a couple of performances (including a lip sync) that absolutely knocked my socks off. What more could you ask from this show? The most exciting part is that, for the first time this season, the production side has shown some life.
