As Storm Byron approaches, flash floods, strong winds and hail are forecast throughout Palestine, including the war-torn Gaza, starting today until Friday evening, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department.

Within 10 minutes, a wall of water shattered its double glass doors, flooded the 2,000-square-foot studio, and left owner Valeen Bhat standing in knee-deep water, watching her nearly 20-year-old business go under literally. I knew that my child was safe, but this is my other child, Bhat told Brooklyn Paper. The water came so fast that we couldn't stop it. The glass doorframe broke from the pressure.

The storm dumped inches of rain on the San Bernardino County mountains and foothills and unleashed a torrent of mud, rocks and trees, particularly in burn scars near Oak Glen and Forest Falls. In the end, three homes were destroyed and more than a dozen other homes, businesses and outbuildings were damaged, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District.

At least 38,600 residential structures were within the flood zone during the July 4 Texas floods, with Tom Green, Travis, Williamson, Burnet, and Kerr counties having the highest number of potentially impacted properties.

More than 50 million Americans were placed under flood watches across parts of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania as torrential downpours moved through the region.

‘Our top priority right now is search and rescue. There are still people unaccounted for. Stay off the roads so crews can work quickly and safely.’
