Stuart Pringle, Silverstone's chief executive, said the venue stood ready to step in at short notice - just as it did during the Covid-19 pandemic when it hosted back-to-back races to keep the season alive.
"The influx of visitors will likely generate billions of dollars in economic activity, benefiting the hospitality, transportation, and retail sectors. Host city hotels anticipate record occupancy, and local businesses will benefit from increased visitor traffic."
Councillor Michael Thompson stated, 'By choosing to fly certain flags, it looks like the city is taking a position in conflicts that we don't know anything about.' He emphasized that council should prioritize local issues like homelessness and transportation instead of engaging in geopolitical matters.
