The Valkyries have activated forward Cecilia Zandalasini from injury and have waived center Elizabeth Kitley, the team announced on Monday. Zandalasini has missed the last eight games with a left calf injury she suffered just minutes before the Valkyries' game against the Phoenix Mercury on Aug. 19. Zandalasini is questionable to play in tomorrow's game against the Seattle Storm. According to a release from the team, Zandalasini will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.
When Valkyries' rookie point guard Kaitlyn Chen first saw Jeremy Lin, she wasn't rooting for him. Chen, a Pasadena native, was in third grade when she watched Lin torch her hometown Los Angeles Lakers for 38 points during the height of the Palo Alto High alum's Linsanity run. But looking back on that moment, Chen has a deep appreciation for Lin's impact on her and the rest of the Asian American basketball community.
The Golden State Valkyries secured their first road win outside California with a dominant 80-61 victory over the Indiana Fever, aided by Veronica Burton's impressive 21 points.
"KT is super reliable. She's built confidence through her hard work. I love when people show me that they want to be that person. They just don't talk about it, but KT backs it up with action and that's what I love about her."
