A very real hockey season is underway, but this year, fictional action on and off the ice is garnering fans. Heated Rivalry follows the secret, seasons-long romance between professional hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, beginning as rookies. The series, now streaming on Crave and HBO Max, is based on the Game Changers books by Rachel Reid. As a romance lover, I already had the show on my watchlist. But a colleague mentioned something that immediately launched it to the top: The books, this person said, are purportedly inspired by real-life rivals Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins and our very own Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin.
Here are my takes on each team's number one stud so that you can keep your eye out for them during the action this season. While I encourage you to watch hockey for the sport, these guys certainly won't hurt! Do you have a favorite team? Have any of these gentlemen convinced you to become a fan? Let me know in the comments!
Heated Rivalry, the Canadian LGBTQ+ sports drama about two rival hockey players who engage in a steamy romance, has taken the world by storm. If you're on social media, particularly the queer bits, you'll have more than likely seen actors Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams, who play Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander respectively, on your feeds. The two guys have remarkable chemistry, on and off screen, which has made them the fascination of many people online.
I mean, I am not happy. Guys are going to run me. I am going to try to stand up for myself. I heard the ref say we got a power play, and there really isn't much I can do to him on the ground. Kudos to the guys who were there and got down with him, but like I said, we have to start going to the cage a little harder and make it harder for their goalies.
They're no longer alone among legal technology providers, with Filevine announcing a helmet sponsor deal with the newly minted Utah Mammoth. As Utah Mammoth branding decisions go, not to denigrate the Filevine partnership, but it's a distant second behind changing the name to Mammoth after playing its first season with the very I-forgot-my-homework-was-due-today name of "Utah Hockey Club." Filevine, who showed off one of the coolest products I saw last year with its Depo Copilot, will appear on both Utah's home and away helmets.
