Kitchen trends in 2026 feature large sinks and earthy colors, blending traditional and high-tech elements for functionality and style.
Yes, that's right - the cabinetry with the warm, golden hue "with amber undertones," as Victoria Fioravanti, partner and creative director at Showcase Kitchens/Showcase Tile & Stone, describes it, has come back after spending many years as a dated kitchen feature that was painted over or completely replaced. These cabinets were a '90s phenomenon to the point that they made it into the kitchens of Full House and Home Improvement - and people (and homebuyers) are loving them again today. Here's why.
According to the NKBA Trends Report, wood cabinets are all the rage, with 59% of surveyed designers, remodelers, showroom professionals, and contractors identifying it as a popular trend. More specifically, 51% of respondents stated that white oak is the preferred cabinet material among those currently renovating. Compared to the orange-toned oak cabinets of the early 2000s, white oak is a bleached cousin with ashy undertones and an almost whitewashed finish.
A tiny TV displayed in the L-shaped corner of her granite counter feels like a real throwback to the kitchen I grew up with in the '90s. Watching favorite shows while cooking meals or enjoying culinary creations is a nostalgic comfort.
Rather than the minimalism that's regularly embraced in the 21st century, the 1990s hinged on a sense of warmth and coziness. The warm-walled '90s color scheme provides a great retreat from cold, harsh colors.
